Maracaibo

Paraiba Tourmaline fever
Using clear bright turquoise Paraiba Tourmalines, Lydia Courteille tries to capture the Catacumba lightning flashes of the huge Maracaibo estuary. She depicts allegators in their natural state: catching other creatures for food, fighting for dominance, or just sunbathing.
These jewels serve to remind the wearer of the fragile distinctive beauty of Lake Maracaibo and to the endangered species living along its shores.
